Antimicrobial Resistance, Multilocus Sequence, and spa Typing of Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Retail Raw Meat Products

چکیده

With a high capacity to acquire antimicrobial resistance, Staphylococcus aureus is an important pathogen causing severe infections in animals and humans. A total of 50 isolates from retail ground beef, chicken meat, fish were characterized by resistance profiling, staphylococcal protein gene (spa) typing, multilocus sequence typing (MLST). The broth microdilution test results showed that all resistant penicillin sulphamethoxazole but had varying rates tetracycline (24%), erythromycin (4%), gentamicin (2%), ciprofloxacin trimethoprim chloramphenicol (0%). blaZ sulI genes detected 100% the followed grlA (94%), norA (92%), tetK (80%), chlA (60%), tetM (26%), aacA-aphD ermA fexA (0%), dfrA Moreover, 26% multidrug-resistant, with five or more genes. spa analysis revealed 22 types, t091 (16%), t1677 (8%), t14538 (8%) being most common, one new type, t19851, was uncovered. MLST identified seven types (STs), ST7 (40%), ST15 (20%), ST199 (13%) two STs (ST7435 ST7436) newly identified. In this study, S. isolated raw meat multidrug different clones associated human infections. As result, foods animal origin may act as potential vehicles for transmission multidrug-resistant isolates, dissemination potentially pathogenic clonal posing health risk

Molecular Typing and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Staphylococcus aureus Strains Isolated from Raw Milk, Cheese, Minced Meat, and Chicken Meat Samples

The objectives of this study were: i) to detect the presence of Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) in raw milk, cheese, beef minced meat, and chicken meat samples; ii) to evaluate the antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolates; and iii) to determine clonal relation among the isolates by using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) method. Therefore, a total of 1...

spa typing and enterotoxin gene profile of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from bovine raw milk in Korea

Staphylococcus aureus is a major etiological pathogen of bovine mastitis, which triggers significant economic losses in dairy herds worldwide. In this study, S. aureus strains isolated from the milk of cows suffering from mastitis in Korea were investigated by spa typing and staphylococcal enterotoxin (SE) gene profiling. Forty-four S. aureus strains were isolated from 26 farms in five province...

Occurrence, characterization and antimicrobial resistance of enterotoxigenic Staphylococcus aureus isolated from meat and dairy products.

Staphylococcus aureus is considered to be one of the leading causes of food-borne illnesses. Milk, dairy products and meats are often contaminated with enterotoxigenic strains of this bacterium. Foodstuff contamination may occur directly from infected food-producing animals or may result from poor hygiene during production processes, or the retail and storage of foods, since humans may carry th...

Prevalence and characterization of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolates from retail meat and humans in Georgia.

There is increasing interest in the presence of Staphylococcus aureus, specifically methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), on retail meat products. In this study, staphylococci were isolated from retail pork and retail beef in Georgia, and MRSA from the products was compared to human MRSA from the same geographic area using broth microdilution antimicrobial susceptibility testing, multilocus s...

spa Typing and Multilocus Sequence Typing Show Comparable Performance in a Macroepidemiologic Study of Staphylococcus aureus in the United States

A number of molecular typing methods have been developed for characterization of Staphylococcus aureus isolates. The utility of these systems depends on the nature of the investigation for which they are used. We compared two commonly used methods of molecular typing, multilocus sequence typing (MLST) (and its clustering algorithm, Based Upon Related Sequence Type [BURST]) with the staphylococc...
